THE FACES OF LAMN

Shane Burcaw grew up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Moravian College with an English degree. His bestselling memoir was shortlisted for the ALA Excellence in Nonfiction Award. He also writes as a freelancer for The Morning Call. His blog, Laughing At My Nightmare, talks about the humor of living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy and has over half a million followers. Along with his wife, Hannah, the duo started their popular YouTube channel, Squirmy and Grubs, in 2018!

Sarah Burcaw is the cofounder of Laughing at My Nightmare. She is also the proud cousin and best friend of LAMN President and cofounder, Shane Burcaw. In 2015, Sarah became the active Director of Development for Laughing at My Nightmare and now works to raise funds each year to propel LAMN’s programs which are focused on supplying equipment to people living with disabilities, and offering an inclusivity-based program to elementary school students.

By day Kaila is the Director of a Fraud Prevention program at a financial institution, by night lives the boymom life (iykyk) which includes danger management and mess and damage control. Also a Lehigh Valley native, Kaila can be found hosting friends and family or enjoying some great outdoor community events. She and her husband have over a decade of experience in philanthropy and believe in the fight for and protection of basic human rights and equality. Together we can!

Lindsee Harrell is a current middle school special education teacher with a passion for inclusion and accessibility. In her work she strives to create a culture of "celebrating our differences" rather than erasing them. This comes from her first person understanding of how inaccessible our world still is. In addition to teaching, she is also a wife, mother, friend, advocate, laugh-inducer, book reader, short story writer, and aspiring small-time baker. She loves the X-Files, PC gaming, camping,

Tye is a biomedical engineer by training and received a PhD from the University of New Mexico in 2019. After a permanent break up with his gallbladder during the pandemic, Tye pressed the life “reset button“. He is now focusing on ending the stigma surrounding people like himself with muscular dystrophy while spreading awareness of the unmet needs of the disabled community. Let’s ride!


Mary is working towards a bachelor's degree at the University of North Texas Dallas for the Human Service Management and Leadership program with a minor in Gerontology. One of her main passions is fair representation of all people no matter age, race, gender or disability. In her free time she enjoys cooking, reading, listening to the "Becoming Something" podcast and spending time with friends, and family. Mary also works as an office manager at a CPA firm in Decatur, TX.
